Deviations, Courses, Nutella, Oh My!

Tue Feb 6, 2007, 5:50 AM
So here I am again in my school's library. In France, that is. I'm quite glad to have internet access, though I must say the school's website is... Okay, I'll get to that in a minute.

First off, I've been having a grand ol' time with my camera. We went on an excursion to Strasbourg/Alsace over the weekend, and during the two days that we were there, I took 597 photos. Definitely a record for me. I probably didn't even take that many in the last four years that I was using my old camera.

Anyway, I got a lot of photos, and a few of them even merit some artistic appreciation (though some of them were taken purely for touristy reasons). And now that I've got a few of them touched up and stuff in Photoshop, I'm going to start posting them here.

It's worth noting that the adjustments I've made to these pictures (mostly levels, brightness/contrast, saturation, etc.) were made on my laptop, which doesn't have the best screen in the world. Its colors only seem to look right from a couple of very particular angles, and I'm not even sure if those are any good compared to "real" displays. So if they turn out exceedingly dark/light/ugly/etc., it's because there's nothing I can do about it on this computer. It's not because I have weird artistic vision or because I'm incompetent, etc., I swear...

But back on the subject of my school's website, it's terrible. I guess I'm just spoiled from Lewis & Clark, or maybe my French is just really bad and I'm not seeing something that's right in front of me, but I can't find the course catalog for the life of me. It's rather aggravating, if I do say so myself. But one day I shall conquer it, and it shall be pwned. You'll see...

And on a parting note, I like Nutella. It is a brilliant substance. And they have way more of it here than back home. I found a jar of 1500 grams, but I decided against getting it, as the next size down, 875 grams, was less than half the price (3.49 euro; now I'm curious how much it costs in the States... anyone out there know?).

Okay, that's all. Goodbye, good luck, and gesundheit.

Coming Soon to a Computer Terminal Near You!

Am in France and have just acquired internet access, which I shall now have every few days or so. And so it is my intention to use this journal as a place for updates and such, and my gallery will be an album of my travels. I'll try to keep the touristy snapshots in the Scraps section, though I do intend to take a number of "artistic" photos, so I'll submit those as regular deviations.

More to come in the near future. Either later today if I get bored, or sometime next week.

Signing off.

it's actually *fortysecondarcha i just stole zven's computer from him and cleaned up his dA account. He had something around 1500 message centre items. Stuff from July of last year...

so yeah. This isn't zven. it's an invasion of the wabbits. *evil wabbit giggling*

Zven might return soon, though. he's out of school, and he has to get this journal off his front page sometime...

Well, here I am, getting off my lazy bum to write a journal entry. And post a deviation or two. Maybe even comment on stuff. Who knows. I guess we'll just have to wait and see on that one.

Anyway, come Tuesday, I leave for college. In the days before that, I have to perform in a play, and pack all my stuff. Should be a busy weekend.

I guess I'll just leave it at that for now. I'll try to remember to write another journal entry after my arrival at college.

Freedom at last!

Well score, school has effectively ended for me. AP tests are over, so I'll basically be having no real work for the rest of the school year. This means that I'll have plenty of time to comment on stuff here. Though I must admit, the 300+ messages that have accumulated are looking rather daunting. I somehow don't think I'll get to them. In all likelyhood, I'll just start anew, commenting on stuff as it comes in, and more or less disregard the MASSIVE amounts of stuff in my inbox here. Sorry if any outstanding work gets unwittingly overlooked.

Also, in the past few weeks I've put together a few things that I can post, including my movie theater. I'll likely have that posted within a day or two. Other things will be posted sooner, I think.

What's your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? I'd have to say it's French toast for me. Or possibly my mom's cinnamon rolls. Also, a good batch of bacon could go with just about any breakfast. Too bad I'm not awake for breakfast that often...
